How does 24/7 online study work?

The greatest thing about online study is you can study anywhere, anytime around your work and lifestyle commitments. You are in complete control and don’t have to worry about working to a restrictive time table or dreaded deadlines for assignments. Maybe you've just finished a nightshift and have a one hour train commute. Jump on your laptop or Ipad and get some study done. You've taken your kids to a play centre and it's noisy and you're bored. Pop in some headphones, grab out your phone and you're good to go. You take charge of your own study! 

Being in control of your own study does require motivation and loads of self-discipline. We know that can often be a struggle particularly if you are studying alone. With EPEC you will be part of a community of learners who are studying the same course as you. We strongly encourage you to access our study groups on Facebook and interact with other students. Remember no question is a silly question!

How long until my work gets assessed?

EPEC Education aims to provide assessment marking results as soon as possible, within a maximum of two (2) weeks from the student submitting their assessment. In the event that marking time-frames are extending beyond two (2) weeks (eg due to times of peak demand, holiday periods), any students affected will be advised by email with an estimated timeframe. 

Our promise to you is that if, for whatever reason, we are unable to complete the agreed training for a student, EPEC Education will make the necessary arrangements for the training to be delivered by another Registered Training Organisation.

How do I login to my Student Portal?

In the top right-hand corner of the home page click the purple button labelled “Student Portal” – enter your login details (username and password)

If you haven't received your email with your login details check your junk folder. Depending on your security settings it might not go straight to your inbox.

Help, my login details aren’t working? 

EPEC Education students will be issued a username and password to access the job ready portal. These will be in the following format:

Username: This will be emailed to you – it generally starts with the first 4 letters of your surname followed by a number

Password: This will be emailed along with your username. You have the option to change this once you login to the system under settings. It will be a combination of upper and lowercase letters

How do I use my Student Portal?

Studying is hard enough without having to download PDF's and submit them manually via email. Some training organisations call this online learning.

We have a full E Learning system allowing you to save your work along the way. You will be able to see in real time exactly where you are up to. Your trainer can also see exactly where you are up to. No more submitting assessments and wondering if your trainer has even looked at them. 

We've made sure it's user friendly and super easy to navigate! Like anything that's tech based we know occasionally there will be times you're not sure where to go or what to look at. No problem, if it's a technical issue you can call our E Learning provider Catapult on 1800 682 199.

What do I need to study?

Aside from your enthusiasm and willingness to learn there are few things you will need. 

Multimedia: To make your life and study easier all of our units have a companion video. To play these you will require the latest Adobe Flash Player which you can grab here.

Resources: Your student portal contains additional resources to assist your study such as Training hints and tips. These are in PDF format. It is important to read these when starting your training course to make your study journey easier! To ensure you can read the PDF's you will need a copy of Adobe on your device which you can grab here

What if I need help with my assessments?

Our resources are simple and easy to follow. Each unit is divided into 4 sections allowing you to send your questions and assessments throughout the completion of your unit.

This gives you an opportunity to receive feedback from your Trainer which will show you if you are on track and/or providing enough information in your responses. The great thing is you won’t be at the end of the unit before you realise you are not on track. Our trainers provide valuable guidance throughout your training and are contactable in a number of ways. You will always receive a prompt response from us!

You can:

  • Email us through your student portal
  • Email your Trainer direct on their individual email

How do I complete my assessments? 

There are two ways to complete your assessments.

1. Click on the enrolments tab in your student portal

Click on Part 1 on the right hand menu bar to read your study material and work through each section.

Complete your assessments by clicking on Formative Assessments and working your way through the questions. Simply fill in the questions in the boxes below the questions and remember always save along the way! 

Alternatively if you prefer you can complete your assessments in Word and upload them.

The easiest way to upload assignments is to:

1.      Access the Student E-Catapult Portal

2.      Go to ‘My Documents’

3.      Select “Submit an Assignment”

4.      Follow the prompts! 

Who finds my work experience?

Students are responsible for initiating contact with their practical placement provider. EPEC Education's Student Support Officer will then contact the Centre to ensure the suitability of the placement and organise the Vocational Placement Agreement.

Depending on where you live we may have relationships with Early Childhood Providers in your area. Give us a call or send us an email if you're having difficulty finding a placement.

Tips on how to find your Practical Placement

When looking for a suitable work placement consider the following:

  • Are you already working or volunteering in the childcare industry? You could potentially do your work placement at your current place of work
  • If you're entering the industry for the first time, do some research about Centres in your area you could approach
  • EPEC Education has additional resources available to help with approaching and finding a suitable work placement available on your student portal under Additional Resources

 

How do I apply for Recognition of Prior Learning?

If you would like to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, simply tick the RPL box on your Enrolment Form. After enrolment, an RPL Assessor will contact you to discuss your evidence collection. Please also read the information on Recognition of Prior Learning in the Student Handbook.

You've completed part of your qualification elsewhere. No problem! EPEC Education also offers cross credits. We'll apply what you've already completed so you don't have to start again! 

Can I get a refund on my course fees?

You may request a refund by following the terms and conditions of the Refund Policy found in the Student Handbook

I’m not happy, where can I make a complaint?

We work hard to ensure our students are happy and provided with all the resources, help and guidance needed. If you have a query about anything in relation to your study please give us a call! Studying is hard enough without the added stress of things that aren't working for you. We don't want you to lose sleep over it. Sometimes a problem shared is a problem halved and it can be a simple fix to get you back on your way!

If you still aren't happy we support your right to lodge a complaint if you feel you have been treated unfairly. All complaints should be submitted in writing at the earliest possible opportunity and sent by email to office@epeceducation.com.au. For our full complaints policy please see the Student Handbook 

I didn't pass an assessment and I want it reassessed

We understand sometimes you think you've smashed an assessment but when you get your marks back they fall short. This is always disappointing and we want you to know it doesn't mean you won't get there in the end! We will always provide you with feedback so you know where you can improve. And most of all if you're not happy you can give the Trainer who marked your assessment a call. You get as many opportunities as you need to become competent, but we strongly recommend following the comprehensive feedback to improve!

If you are still not happy with the decision we will submit your assessment to another Trainer to be assessed. EPEC Education will always provide you with a fair process to lodge an appeal when you've exhausted all other options.
