  • Community Organisations

    Your compliance date

    Child Safe Standards apply from:

    1 January 2026

    This includes organisations such as:

    • Community and neighbourhood centres
    • Youth and family support services
    • Not-for-profit community programs
    • Organisations delivering services to children or families

    What this means for you

Under Standard 7, community organisations must ensure that:

    • Staff and volunteers are trained to keep children safe
    • Training is appropriate to their role
    • Training is kept up to date
    • Records are maintained to show training has been completed
    • Volunteers are included, even if they are casual, seasonal, or unpaid.

Many community organisations already screen staff — but training consistency, refreshers, and record keeping are where gaps often appear.

  • Disability Services and NDIS providers

    Your compliance date

    Child Safe Standards apply from:

    1 October 2025

    This includes:

    • Disability service providers
    • NDIS-registered organisations
    • Services supporting children with disability in residential, community, or program settings

    What this means for you

Disability and NDIS providers are required to:

    • Train staff and volunteers to identify and respond to risk and harm
    • Ensure workers understand reporting requirements in Queensland
    • Maintain clear evidence of training completion

Because these services often operate in regulated environments, training and documentation are a key focus under Standard 7.
