SESSION AGENDA:

WELCOME & CHECK-IN

  • Quick introductions and warm-up question:
“As an Educator, what's one moment where you felt you truly made a child feel safe?”

MAIN DISCUSSION:
Attachment theory in early childhood & Outside School Hours Care settings

This session we're exploring how, as Educators, we can:

  • Give children a sense of stability when experiencing family breakdown
  • Give children stability when staff turnover is high
  • Set up systems whereby children have one safe Educator or caregiver
  • Support children who come from trauma backgrounds
  • Give children a sense of belonging and peace when they have attachment issues.

ADDITIONAL TOPICS:

Diploma of Early Childhood

  • What is the quality of training for current Early Childhood Diploma students?
  • Could clustering of topics be useful in providing better outcomes for students?
  • Is 12 months too long to complete the course? Could clustering shorten this timeframe and thus result in better training outcomes?

OPEN FLOOR & FEEDBACK

  • Reflections and suggestions
